Our Story

Roman Ulyanenko and Yaroslava Vilko are pastors of our KJMC.Stuttgart congregation. Until 2022, they served in Kyiv: Roman was engaged in rehabilitation ministry, and Yaroslava was and remains an elder of KJMC.

The start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine caught Roman and Yaroslava in Israel, where they were on a short trip. They had bought tickets and planned to return to Kyiv, where they carried out their main ministry, on February 24, 2022.

On that day, like millions of others, they experienced shock, pain, confusion, and uncertainty about what to do next. Several days in Israel, spent in prayer for Ukraine and seeking understanding about what to do next, seemed like an eternity. In Ukraine, in Kyiv, where enemy troops were advancing, were their family, children, parents, and a young grandson.

A few days later, a decision was made to fly to Poland and organize assistance at the border for those who found themselves in an unbelievable, freezing collapse, consisting of multi-million-strong columns of refugees. Previously, it was impossible to even imagine that the word “refugee” could be applied to Ukrainians.

Together with other servants of our Kyiv congregation, a headquarters was set up to help our people. Hundreds of people from the Kyiv Jewish community, their loved ones, relatives, and people from other Jewish Messianic congregations were looking for a way out and refuge. In a short time, with the help of friends from Polish congregations, particularly from Lublin, Warsaw, Gdansk, and Hrubieszów, we were able to organize our efforts and help hundreds and hundreds of people. A small team looked for opportunities to evacuate people from Ukrainian cities (it was especially difficult to help very elderly Jews whose children could not come to Ukraine to pick them up). They were settled in border towns to rest and make further decisions. They then sought opportunities to find permanently shelter for them in Europe so that Polish border towns could take in new arrivals from Ukraine.

Friends, partners, churches, congregations, and ordinary people from all over Europe provided tremendous assistance. Without this help, it would have been impossible.

After two months, the flow of people fleeing the war subsided. Roman and Yaroslava were seeking God's will on what to do next. At that time, Boris Grisenko, Senior Rabbi of KJMC, sent them to serve in Stuttgart, where a group of KJMC ministers were already.

We started our community in Stuttgart, KJMC.Stuttgart, in July 2022 and are continuing to develop it.

Before the full-scale war, the community numbered over 2,200 people. Despite the forced evacuation of some members, the community continues its work and continues to grow. We believe in the prophecies about the choosing of the Jewish people and their special role in the end times. As a Messianic community, we are happy to share that we have 57 affiliate congregations and Messianic groups and 4 Jewish ministries around the world. These congregations and ministries are centers of spiritual growth focused on preaching the Good News of the Savior to the Jewish people and supporting their spiritual needs. Our deep prayer is to see God's mercy and revelation spread through these ministries, drawing even more people to know Yeshua as Messiah and Lord.
